Borno govt moves to commission solar panel factory

The Borno state government on Thursday said it has concluded all arrangements to commission its established Africa’s largest Solar Panel Factory (SOPF) which is to overcome challenges of power outages in the State.
The fully automated plant, according to the Special Adviser on Agriculture, Ibrahim Ali while test-running, is sited at Njimtilo village, which is expected to produce 40 megawatts worth of panels per annum.
He said that each solar panel has the capacity for 300 watts.
He further disclosed that with the completion of factory, most of the dormant cottage industries are to be reactivating to create jobs, adding that the 28 completed mega schools, are also to switch to solar panels for electricity.
