How troops nabbed wanted kidnappers in Rivers – Army

Nigerian Army on Monday revealed how its personnel arrested four kidnap suspects on the wanted list in the Obio/Akpor, Tai and Gokana Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
The army, in a release made available to journalists in Abuja said the kidnap suspects were nabbed by troops of the 29 Battalion during a raid on criminal hideouts in the areas on Thursday.
The release disclosed to journalists that the four high profile kidnap suspects, Victor Dokara, Dumbari Bro, Gbaraco Kaviloba and Confidence Friday, had been on the wanted list of the security agencies.
The military said the suspects were currently undergoing interrogations and would soon be handed over to the appropriate security agency for prosecution.
The army’s Operations Media Coordinator, Col Aminu Iliyasu, said, “In the South-South, troops on Operation Mesa raided the hideouts of some identified kidnap kingpins in Rivers State. The suspected kidnappers met their waterloo when troops of 29 Battalion simultaneously raided the hideouts in Obio/Akpor, Tai and Gokana LGAs.
“The raid led to the arrest of four high profile criminals who have been on the security agencies’ wanted list. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, appeals to citizens to support the army’s resolve to rid communities of criminal elements by providing useful information.
“Also, troops of 151 Battalion in conjunction with the 21 Special Armoured Brigade’s Quick Response Force thwarted the kidnap of three civilians by the criminal insurgents in Firgi village in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
“This rescue operation was carried out on Friday and the victims had been escorted safely back to their destinations.”
