Graveyard Peace in Kano as new Emirs Attend Friday Prayers

24 hours after the court ruling nullifying appointment of new Emirs,a graveyard peace pervades the state even as the state government prepares to file Appeal against the ruling.
Reports from the four new Emirates indicated that their subjects are standing by their new rulers despite court rulings.
Today the emits attended Friday prayers in their full royal regalia and with their subjects paying obeisance to them.
The Emir of Bichi ,Alhaji Ado Bayero was particularly prominent as the royal entourage received warm reception at the mosque and across town.
Emir Bayero ,the son of the late emir of Kano is regarded as equally influential as the Emir of Kano,Sanusi Lamido.
A Friday that would have witnessed violent reactions reportedly went peacefully as Kano indegenes complied with the statements from government and the various palaces to be peaceful while the legal proceedings last.
The Kano State Government had in a statement said it is studying the ruling of Kano High Court on the creation of four new Emirates in the state with a view to taking immediate appropriate action.
A statement signed by the state Commissioner of Information, Malam Muhammad Garba , regretted that despite the constitutional power and authority conferred on the State Assembly on such progressive and important issue, the court rules otherwise.
“Accordingly therefore, the Government will not fold its arms and concedes such constitutional power for the interest of the wellbeing of the people and general development of the state.
“Despite the ruling, the government still recognizes them as First Class Emirs and will continue dealing with them as such.
“The state government therefore advised people to be calm, law abiding and await further action”,the statement noted
