Army Chief Under Pressure,Begs Troops to Sustain Offensive

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai has tasked troops to
sustain fight against Boko Haram terrorists to restore peace in North
East.


The decade long insurgency; has claimed many lives and property in
Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.
Buratai tasked the troops Monday, while inspecting captured rifles and
gun trucks by 156 Task Force Battalion in Mainok village of Borno
state.


“You’re to continue onslaughts against insurgents; until they are
completely smoke out from Sambisa Forest and Lake Chad region,” he
said.


While commending soldiers for recent feats against terrorism, he said
their ‘doggedness and resilience’ have neutralised insurgents with
capture of some of them.


According to him, the annihilation of terrorists and recovery of
weapons and gun trucks, are a boost to the ongoing counter-insurgency
operations.


“The Federal Government is committed provide you adequate equipment to
enable and maintain the current tempo of operation with a view to
ending insurgency in shortest possible time,” he said.


He noted that even though the operations are complex, they should
continue to overcome challenges of ending the war.


“Nothing is too difficult to handle to ensure peace in insurgency
affected states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe,” he said, stating that the
troops are doing their job professionally that must be maintained.


He said the distractions, should not hinder troops’ operations at
theatre, as they have sacred responsibility to nation
