No Borno LG is under Boko Haram

Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi,
has said that no Borno council area; is under the control of Boko
Haram insurgents since 2017.


Adeniyi made the declaration Friday, while briefing journalists on the
ongoing counter-insurgency operations at the Theatre Command Centre,
Maiduguri.


The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in camps sacked by insurgents
from Abadam, Marte and Guzamala councils are yet to return to their
communities over decade long insecurity.


He however insisted that; “There was no inch of the Nigerian territory
that is under the control of Boko Haram insurgents.


“Since 2017 the Army has technically defeated the Boko haram
terrorists and we succeeded in taking over the areas from Boko Haram
insurgents.


“In 2013 Boko Haram transmuted from a terrorist group to a terrorist
army sustaining intense attacks on towns, villages, communities,
markets and military bases,” he said, noting that it was only then
that the military commenced series of serious operations against the
terrorists.


He claimed that the Army recaptured 24 towns and villages that were
under the complete control of Boko Haram.


He assured the people that troops would continue fight Boko Haram and
Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists to end war
for peace to reign.


Adeniyi explained that the adoption of Super Camp strategy; had
enabled troops to succeed in the fight against the insurgents.


On troops’ equip and motivation, he said: “We’re well equipped and
motivated to fight the Boko Haram and Islamic State of West African
Province terrorists.


“The Theatre has produced Nigerian made Mines Resistant Ambush
Protected (MRAPs) vehicles to meet their operational equipment
requirements.”
