Breaking : Shake up in the Military
The President of Chad Republic, Idriss Déby has signed a decree replacing three general officers and a senior officer of the armed and security forces in the staff of the army.
Déby appointed Brigadier-General Mahamat Souleymane Ali, previously commander of the No. 2 Defense and Security Zone and co-coordinator of the State of the Armed Forces in the East.
He replaces Major General Baharadine Adoum Haggar who was appointed on March 22, 2019 to replace Lieutenant General Tahir Erda.
Brigadier General Mahamat Souleymane Ali was recently decorated by decree of the Head of State for his successful mission after five months of state of emergency in eastern Chad.
Three other replacements
The 1st Deputy Chief of the Land Staff is Brigadier General Tidjani Ismaël Sougour. In 2015, he served as Chief of the Land Staff. On March 29, 2019, he was raised to the rank of brigadier general.
The 2nd Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army is Brigadier General Ismaël Ibrahim Hassaballah. This officer notably held the position of commander of defense and security zone no.4 (Baga Sola), before being called to other duties in June 2017.
The Chief of Staff / EMAT is Lieutenant-Colonel Abdelkerim Hassan Wadaye.
