Osun PDP: Thank You PDP NWC

By Senator Felix Ogunwale

A stich in time they say saves nine! The leadership and stakeholders of Osun PDP, the membership of our great party/PDP across the length and breadth of the 332wards in osun state, our well-wishers and party sympathizers within and outside Osun state, wish to express our profound gratitude to the Prince Uche Secondus led National Working Committee(NWC) of our great party/PDP, and at the same time applaud and celebrate the recent effort to salvage the soul qand architectural structure of our party from collapse when the NWC came out with a bold and decisive step to delve into the lingering issues bothering on the series of petitions of financial misappropriation, malfeasance, abuse of office and anti party activities written against the suspended chairman of the party/Hon. Soji Adagunodo.

The move to investigate the authenticity of the allegations contained in the petitions is indeed the right step in the right direction. Without doubt, for there to be a thorough investigation without any hitch or hindrances in this process, the global practice is for the person being investigated to step aside pending the outcome of such an exercise. We therefore appeal to you to please expedite this process of investigation without much delay. Since the NWC have found merit in the report of the fact finding panel/committee (that listened and heard all parties involved in the petition when they came to osun state),the investigation should therefore be unambiguous in this matter.

We pray that God will grant the members of the National Disciplinary Committee(NDC) the divine wisdom and sound intellectual fairness to carry out this assignment with apt and precision to deliver justice in this onerous task.

For us as members of the PDP family in Osun State, my sincere appeal to us all is to make the interest of the party uppermost in our quest and pursuit at this time so that we can collectively wrestle power from the ruling maladministration of APC government in osun state. Enough of playing opposition in this state. It is time to bring back the glorious and joyful days of economic buoyancy with good governance to all of us in Osun. Let us stop the ‘Pull him down’ and self-centered kind of politics amongst ourselves. Let us remember that our strength only resides in our unity and strong collective resolve to be committed and focused on the party’s victory at the polls. The victory of the party is victory for all.

May I use this opportunity to admonish our Southwest Leader; Governor Seyi Makinde not to fall for any cheap blackmail to make him shield this much needed investigation, he is known to be a man of integrity and we do not want his reputation tarnished, we also call on all members of our party, particularly our leaders and elders in Osun state to please refrain from careless, unguided, reckless and ignoble conducts that are targeted at bringing the party or it’s members into disrepute.

Any conduct that is aimed (whether deliberately or otherwise) at discrediting or bringing disrespect to any member or particularly any of our leaders will definitely cause acrimony in the party. My appeal to all our leaders is to live up to the position and responsibility of leadership bestowed upon us. We should allow the grey hair(which depicts wisdom and maturity) to come to bear in guiding us in our utterances and conducts in all affairs.

I must say at this point that the recklessness and unguided statements displayed by Dr. Olu Alabi recently does not depict the calling of an elder and leader of a great party like ours. His conduct also fell short of that of an elder by Yoruba standard. His attempt at mudslinging the names of the Adeleke Family because of mere cheap political differences remains disdainful and highly regrettable. Dropping names of our zonal party leaders for cheap blackmail on the pages of newspaper remains condemnable and unacceptable. To say the least, making fictitious claim that all our reputable and noble leaders in osun are on the same page with him (regarding the report of the fact-finding panel that came from the National Headquarters of the party over the petitions written by the party members) is highly very fallacious and misleading.

What the leadership and elders of the party want is to know the true outcome of the investigation of the matter. No leader in Osun is on the witch-hunting expedition in this matter.

We all stand together behind our party to know the truth. For the avoidance of doubt, may I state clearly that Dr. Olu Alabi is on his own and he speaks for himself alone. He is hereby reminded that the party is greater than any individual or group of persons.

As leaders, one of our roles is to midwife peace and restore calm and harmony to the party even where there seem to be differences between our members.

I will appeal to all our leaders, party stakeholders and members of our great party to please remain calm and peaceful until we get the result of the investigation of the National Disciplinary Committee(NDC) in the Adagunodo matter. We cannot pre-empt the findings of the investigation that is yet to be concluded. May God strengthen and keep us all safe during this trying times that the COVID-19 pandemic is ravaging the globe. Let us all stay safe and healthy. Let us ensure we keep to the health guidelines.
My sincere prayers is to see all of us safe when the ban on public and social gathering is lifted.

Thank you and God bless!
