Orient Oil Unfolds University Scholarships
The Oriental Energy Resources (OER); has yesterday unfolded Universities Scholarship Awards (USLA) scheme; to indigents of Akwa Ibom state.
The scheme has targeted eligible undergraduate students drawn from Effiat and Mbo communities of the state. OER’s Head of Community and Government Relations, Dr. Uwem Ite said in a statement Wednesday in Maiduguri.
He stated as follows: “We’re announcing
the commencement of applications for the USLA 2020/2021 scheme for students studying in institutions of higher learning.
“The fresh scholarship scheme; is a demonstration of our commitments towards human capital development in the state.”
On students’ awards of scholarships, OER’s Managing Director, Ignatius Ifelayo further disclosed: “The underlying philosophy behind our social investment is to create sustainable footprints through the
implementation of projects and programmes,” noting that they are to improve qualities of life in the targeted communities and areas of operations.
He explained that OER’s delivery strategy creates room for host community ownership to ensure efficiency and sustainability.
He added that emphasis; is also being placed on ‘social investment initiatives’ that respond to Stakeholders’ needs.
According to him, applications for the scholarship scheme; are expected to have obtained admission for undergraduate studies in a recognized Nigerian university.
While entries will close August 31, 2020, he added that; “Full details of application process, including eligibility criteria and supporting documentation can be found on the company’s website
“The online application system last year, was to ensure transparency, as well as a more efficient and cost-effective application process.”
He therefore, noted that only shortlisted candidates will be invited via e-mail for an aptitude test.
According to him, it based on test results that awards are made to successful applicants for a maximum duration of four years.
“This is subject to continuous satisfactory academic performance,” he noted, adding that besides scholarships scheme, Oriental Energy is
focusing on social investments in education, community health and enterprise development in the state.
“We’re working towards completing a science laboratory complex at Community Grammar School, Ebughu in Mbo council of Akwa Ibom state.
He said that since the commencement of scholarship awards scheme, over 1,000 students have benefited across the country.
