There are growing indications that the Caretaker Committee of the All Progressive Congress is almost concluding negotiation to allow the return into the party of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
Checks by Sahel Standard showed that the Governor Buni led committee has embarked on nationwide return to base drive which is reportedly yielding result starting with the defection of former House Speaker,Yakubu Dogara.
It was gathered that associates of both Saraki and Atiku would start crossing into the APC as a preparatory step for the two big chiefs to move towards take end.
Already, former Youth Development Minister, Bolaji Abdulahi is reported to have crossed back to the APC. Ditto for the former National Chairman of the party, Barnabas Gemade among others.
Sahel Standard was told that the move behind the return home campaign was linked to the bigger agenda to stop the Tinubu train ahead of the 2023 bid.
While it is not clear if Atiku has been promised APC ticket in 2023, reports indicated that Buni has the mandate to secure return of Atiku and Saraki alongside their associates back into the party.
” I can confirm to you that the drive is on. Saraki and Atiku may soon move into APC. Dogara is Atiku’s boy. Ditto for Saraki. Expect more high profile defection in due course”, a high profile politician privy to the development hinted.
