FG, Borno to Complete N560 million Monguno Water Project
The Federal Government in collaboration with Borno State Government; has begun construction of N560 million Monguno water supply project.
The project; under Monguno/Marte/Nganzai federal constituency, is to provide portable water to Monguno community and over 100,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in camps.
While flagging off water project Thursday, Governor Babagana Zulum, disclosed; “The completion of this constituency project, will address Monguno water scarcity, including the over 100,000 IDPs in camps and host communities.”
He commended the Chief Whip at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Mohammed Monguno for conceiving the constituency project to supply portable water to the township.
The Project Engineer, Ba’ale Bura, also said that the project, was award at N560 million and completed before the end of this year.
According to him, the water project, after completion, comprises two middle aquifer boreholes and three lower aquifer boreholes with two million litre underground reservoirs.
“There will be a million-litre overhead water tank; with the reticulation of water networks across Monguno township,” he said.
He said the completion of water works project will not only address water scarcity in the town, but provide portable water to the influx of IDPs into camps over decade long Boko Haram insurgency.
Monguno, who was visibly excited, said that; “I thanked my colleagues in the National Assembly for supporting me approve this constituency
“I will continue to bring more of such projects into the constituency by God’s willing.”
