68 Stranded Nigerians Evacuated From Lebanon

68 Nigerian ladies who were stranded in Lebanon have been evacuated on Sunday, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has said.

The commission disclosed on its Twitter handle @nidcom_gov.

The Ladies arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at about 15:30HRS via Middle East Airline.

Recall the viral video where some girls cried out to @NigeriaGov to facilitate their return.

Recall a viral video where some 30 Nigerian ladies cried out to Nigerian government to facilitate their return back to Nigeria.

The Lebanese Ambassador to Nigeria Mr Houssam Diab who had earlier stated that the girls would be evacuated back home on the 12th of August, said the girls 150 in number will be returned back to Nigeria in batches.

He stated this during a recent meeting with officials of NIDCOM in Abuja.

” The first batch of 110 will leave Beirut, Lebanon on 12th, August, 2020  while the Second Batch will be returned to Abuja on 16th, August, 2020″ Diab said.

The Ambassador also said the evacuation of the girls is a collaborative effort of the Lebanese Community in Nigeria and the Oyo State Government who is sponsoring the return of Fifty-five(55) of the girls.
