Senator Saraki Hails #AFCTA, Says Nigeria is Preparing
The Minister of State for Transport, Senator Gbemisola Saraki, has commended the initiative behind African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA), affirming that Nigeria is preparing hard to take advantage of the new continental trade zone.
She however stressed that Nigeria can only harness the potential this agreement offers by providing an enabling environment.
She made this disclosure when the Workstream Sub-Committee on AfCTA, led by the SSA to the President and Secretary, National Action Committee on AfCTA, Mr. Francis Anatogu, paid a courtesy visit on her in Abuja.
Sen. Saraki, who has been chosen to champion the “Workstream on Road Transport Infrastructure and Services” in readiness for AfCTA’s single continental market for goods and services in Africa stated that the task ahead is daunting but not impossible and assured the committee of her ministry’s support in achieving the laudable objectives of AfCTA.
Meanwhile, the Minister of State also met a delegation of Public Transport Owners of Nigeria (PTONA), association led by its President, Engr. Isaac Uhunwagho, informing the delegation that FG is conversant with their challenges and that efforts are ongoing to address them.
