South West PDP Congress: Osun PDP Hosts Olafeso, Jenyo Others
Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Friday played host to the immediate past South West Zonal Chairman and Secretary of the party, Dr Eddy Olafeso and Rev Bunmi Jenyo their team seeking support of the state chapter of the party towards the forthcoming congress of the party in the zone.
Receiving Dr Eddy Olafeso and his team at the party secretariat in Osogbo, the state Working Committee of the party led by Elder Hon Sunday Akanfe Atidade, praised the team for their unrelenting effort at entrenching democratic tenets in the south west chapter of the party, which he said is devoid of hatred and undue impunity.
Four state chairmen of the party in the zone, viz; Lagos, Ogun, Ondo and of course the host, Osun, took turns to eulogize Dr Eddy Olafeso and his team for their painstaking efforts at revamping the party in the zone while holding sway as executives which has put the party in poll position in various states in the zone towards the next rounds of elections in the country.
Responding, Dr Eddy Olafeso assured stakeholders at the parley that all issues surrounding the forthcoming zonal Congress, as observed by some persons at the meeting will soon be resolved as members of the same political family, saying, issues of interests will always play out at a time like this. He pledged to do all within his powers, should he emerged as zonal chairman of the party, to support Osun PDP towards winning the next governorship election in the state in 2022.
He noted that what happened in 2018 where APC had the leeway to violently manipulate the electoral process through a wanton rerun in favor of their party in the state will no longer be tolerated in the south west. He further solicited support of Osun PDP on his aspiration for South West zonal head of the party.
Also speaking at the meeting, former state chairman of the party in Osun State, Àlhaji Ganiyu Ayobami Olaoluwa commended Dr Olafeso for towing the part of honour by seeking support and endorsement of stakeholders across the South West zone for his ambition, saying, such step remained the best in a democratic arrangement. He urged other aspiring individuals to the zonal chairmanship seat to emulate the peaceful approach of Dr Olafeso in a bid to achieve a cohesive front ahead of electoral contests in the zone.
Present at the consultative meeting were members of the State Working Committee of the party, former south west zonal secretary of party, State officers, local government party chairmen and other stakeholders of the party both in Osun State and the South West zone.
