Following in the footsteps of the Oyo state governor,Seyi Makinde, Sahel Standard learnt that the new entrants into office seeking are well grounded in street politics alongside the hard bargaining involved in the political process.
Aside having deep pocket , the identified potential office seekers mostly at the governorship cadre are also entrenched within their respective political parties especially at the national level.
Sahel Standard has counted about 15 top technocrats whose ambitions are confirmed and who are under intense pressure from their people to launch their aspirations.
States where incumbent governors are serving second term are particularly witnessing the upsurge of technocrat-politicians. The States affected in this trend include Rivers,Cross Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Kano, Abia, Enugu, Niger, Kebbi, Sokoto, Jigawa, Plateau, and Kaduna states.
Further checks revealed that governors in those States are having mixed feelings about the new entrants. While some are receptive ,others are antagonistic.
The new entrants are however mostly top players at the national level in cases involving the ruling All Progressive Congress and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
