Zulum Disburses 80 Million To IDPs
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state, has disbursed N80 million to
43,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) taking refuge at border
community camp of Banki.

According to him, the cash transfer disbursement, was to overcome
challenges of food and basic needs of life in IDP camp.
While disbursing the cash transfer at the weekend along with Federal
Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and IDPs,
Sen. Bashir Muhammad, the Governor disclosed that; “each male and
female beneficiary was given N5, 000 each to enable them buy food
items and other basic needs of life.”
“I sympathized with your plights in camp, after being sacked from your
ancestral homes in Bama council,” assuring that the state government
will device means of ensuring food sufficiency.
He added that the 65-kilometre Bama-Banki road will be rehabilitated
in insurgency affected border communities with Cameroon.
He also assured that the IDPs will be resettled before the end of this year.
“I’ve directed the clearance work in Banki to resume this month. The
population of Banki has increased continued to increase” he said,
noting that this is in preparation to resettling IDPs in October,
Continued; “Again the most important thing is that we have spoken with
the military to ensure provision of security especially at periphery
of border town.
“That is something that we are in need of. And I think we must commend
the military for their efforts.
“Despite their challenges, they are doing their best but we have
appealed to them.”
“We urged the communities to give maximum support to the military by
reporting abnormalities ongoing in Banki,” noting that security is the
responsibility of all.
