LekkiMasscre of #EndSars Protesters Is a National Disaster says Kwara Must Change

Calls for national #Endsars conversation

A leading Pro-democracy group in Kwara State, Kwara Must Change has strongly condemned Tuesday’s gruesome attack on #Endsars protesters at Lekki Toll gate in Lagos State and also calls for a national #Endsars conversation to determine the future of the protest.

The group said that, nothing justifies such cruel attack on harmless protesters, who are merely exercising their constitutional rights.

In a statement by the convener of Kwara Must Change, Abdulrazaq Hamzat, the group stated that, aiming gunshots at youth protesters, who are proudly holding the national flag and passionately chanting national anthem, while demanding for an end to police brutality is nothing, but a national disaster.

According to Hamzat, ” those who ordered and carried out the Lekki massacre are not only inhuman and cruel, they are unbefitting of any democratic nation, adding that, the #LekkiMassacre will continue to hunt them forever.

Hamzat further maintained that, those in charge of the nation’s government, especially the security institutions lack the composure and temperament to manage a modern state, especially in a 21st century democratic nation and there’s no better evidence than this unfortunate tragedy.

While noting the violent turn the protest took in some parts of the country as a result of infiltration of protest by sponsored hoodlums, Kwara Must Change maintained that the #Endsars protest itself has been peaceful and the government failed in providing appropriate security for the protesters because of its desperation to end the protest without tact, leading to outright massacre of innocent protesters by state forces.

Kwara Must Change therefore call on the youths of Nigeria to be calm, tactful and strategic, before responding to this national calamity. It also calls for the convergence of a national #EndSars conversation to decide the future of the protest and how to seek justice against for the victims of the massacre.
