NCC Tops Lists of 25 Most Ethically-Compliant Regulators in Nigeria

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has emerged the most integrity-driven and ethically-compliant parastatal among 25 other regulatory agencies.

The assessment was conducted by the Independent Corrupt Practice and Other Related Offences Commission’s (ICPC) in its Ethics Compliance and Integrity Scorecards (ECIS) 2020. The scorecard list shows:

  • NCC attained the first position with a score of 81.15%.
  • Nigeria Shippers Council (NSC) came second, 71.05%
  • The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), 69.85%.
  • National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), 66.8%.
  • The National Copyright Commission (NCC), 64.55%.
  • Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) 63.55%.
  • National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) 56.4%.
  • Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) 54.8%.
  • Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) 51.05%.
  • Other remaining 15 agencies scored below 50% each.

The ICPC’s Ethics Compliance and Integrity Scorecards (ECIS) is annually deployed to measure how each of the Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government comply with ethical, integrity, statutory, regulatory and policy standards and requirements. NCC is charged with the responsibility of regulating the supply of telecommunications services and facilities, promoting competition, and setting performance standards for telephone services in Nigeria.
