Zulum Awards Scholarships To Volunteer Health Workers In Borno
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state, has awarded scholarships to 15
volunteer health workers in the state.
According to him, the scholarships, were in recognition of
‘volunteers’ selfless services’ in the healthcare delivery sector.
While announcing the awards Sunday at the Baga Internally Displaced
Persons (IDPs) camp to distribute relief items, he said: “I’m
impressed with the volunteers’ render of healthcare delivery services
in this IDP camp.
“I, therefore direct Borno State Scholarship Board (BOSB); to award 15
scholarships to IDP volunteers further their education in institutions
of their choice.”
He continued; “I am so impressed, after reviewing your selfless
efforts in this camp. We’re reciprocating for the board fund your
education at institutions of higher levels.
“The scholarship awards; also depend on your eligibility for
admissions into institutions of higher learning.”
He said their interests to further education, could be in medicine,
nursing and midwifery of tertiary institutions in Maiduguri, the state
While supervising distribution of relief and food items, he also
disbursed N50 million for the resettlement of 5,000 IDP households.
He commended the Federal Government for the delivery of food and
non-food items through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)
and North East Development Commission (NEDC).
He also lauded troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, for their sacrifice
protect IDP returnees’ lives and property in liberated communities.
