ACCI Partners Jaiz Halal Certification Authority On Promoting Halal Products, Services

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry has partnered with Jaiz Halal Certification Authority on promoting halal products and services to further attract foreign investments, create jobs, reduce poverty and put Nigeria on the global halal map.


President of the Chamber, Dr Al-Mujtaba Abubakar while signing the MOU with the director, Jaiz Halal Certification Authority, Dr Abdullahi Shuaib said the partnership was aimed at strengthening the Halal industry which according to him has a huge potential in Nigeria.


Dr Al-Mujataba who was represented by the Chambers Vice President Mines and also Chairman of the Chamber’s Trade Centre, Dr Johnson Anene observed that the challenge of the sector include inadequate awareness on the halal industry, few halal certification bodies, and poor synergy between the public and the private sector, among others, however stated that the partnership will be aimed at addressing those challenges.

The Director General of the Chamber, Mrs Victoria Akai while speaking said that the partnership will mark the beginning of a great journey in the Halal Industry as it will bring forth stronger Halal finance institutions, manufacturing firms, fairs, conferences, trainings amongst others.


She stated that in the past, ACCI had worked with other nations to promote their halal fairs, conferences and other aspect of the industry adding that “now is the time to start promoting our own and collaborating with the rest of the world”.
The DG who stated that Nigeria has the highest population of Muslims in Africa with over 100 million Muslims, emphasised that having a vibrant Halal Economy is key especially in “a world filled with unethical manufacturing”.

“We believe that the relationship we are about strengthening through the signing of the MOU between Jaiz Halal Certification Authority and the Abuja Chamber of Commerce will bring forth stronger Halal finance Institutions, manufacturing firms, fairs, conference, trainings, exporters, branding and most importantly create jobs, empower the youth and put Nigeria on the Global Halal Map” she said.


The DG urged Jaiz Halal Cerification Authority to support the Halal Expo Nigeria coming up in between the 14th and the 16th of September 2021.
She also said that countries like Turkey, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and the entire D8 countries will be participating.
While responding, the Director of the Jaiz Halal Certification Authority, Dr Abdullahi Shuaib informed the gathering that the organisation was conceived as a result of the huge potentials the Halal Industry has in the country.


He said the Organisation was leveraging on the brand name of the parent body Jaiz bank, with the aim of promoting halal products and services, as well as bringing about competent practitioners in the areas of capacity building, trainings, and providing consultancy services to the teaming population who know little about the industry.
