Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society Xrays Security Challenges at Annual Event
The Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) at its 56th Annual International Conference and Exhibition would x-ray the current security challenges and their impacts on exploration and exploitation of Mineral resources in the country.
The 30th President of NMGS, who is also the Director- General of the Mining Cadastre Office (MCO), Engineer Obadiah Simon Nkom stated this at Ibadan 2020/2021 Pre- Annual Press Conference of the Society held at Geoligy Department of University of Ibadan on 12th March, 2021.
Annually, the Society selects topical and trending Societal issues that affect the practice of the profession in particular and the nation in general.
This year’s theme: ” Responsible Exploration and Exploitation of Mineral Resources in a Secured Environment” provides the platform for robust contribution from members and experts in such field of endeavour to proffer solution to such societal challenges.
President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR who is also the Grand Patron of the Society is expected to declare the Conference open on Tuesday 16th March, 2021. Other dignitaries expected include the Executive Governor of Oyo State, who is also the Host, Engr. Seyi Makinde and other South West Governors are expected to grace the occasion.
The Conference which is scheduled to hold from 14th to 19th March, 2021 at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan is hybrid in nature with various programmes which include Pre- Conference Panel discussion, the 56th Annual AGM of the Society and Admission and Induction of 630 new members into the Society among other programmes.
