Osinbajo, Governors, Media Chiefs For Book Launch On Alex Ibru
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, governors, media chiefs and captains of industry are set to attend a book launch to celebrate the late publisher of The Guardian, C, and the newspaper.
The event, initially billed for tomorrow, will now hold on Thursday, April 8, at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel on Victoria Island, Lagos.
It will also feature a posthumous award for the late Ibru in recognition of his remarkable proprietorship.
The night before the launch will be for the reunion of former workers of The Guardian.
Former Ogun State governor and ex-Managing Director of Daily Times, Chief Segun Osoba, who wrote the foreword to the book, paid tribute to the late publisher for his vision in establishing the newspaper and for the freedom he gave the newspaper’s managers to make it a big brand.
On the book, Osoba said: “Individual and institutional memoirs are necessary for deepening our understanding of ourselves, our societies, our organisations, our histories, and our future.”
Top media entrepreneurs expected at the event include Vanguard publisher Sam Amuka-Pemu, ThisDay publisher and chairman of Arise Television, Nduka Obaigbena, among others.
Other media chiefs expected at the event are: President of the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE), Mustapha Isa; Chairman of the Lagos Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr. Adeleye Ajayi, and the member representing Nigeria and Africa on the Executive Board of the International Press Institute (IPI), Raheem Adedoyin, who is also a former staff member of The Guardian.
