Nurses Withdraws Services In Ogun Over kidnapping Of Health Workers

The National Association of Nurses and Widwives, Ogun State Chapter has issued a notice of withdrawal of service to the State Government based on continuous abduction of its members and other health workers in the state.

The body through a letter to the state Commissioner for Health says, a Doctor and a Nurse were abducted on 7th of April 2021 along Imeko-Afon road and up till date, they are still with their abductors.

The Association added that another Dental therapist was abducted on Monday, 12th, April 2021 on her way to work at Ijebu-Igbo, indicating that the safety of health workers across the state cannot be guaranteed.

The letter which was jointly signed by the representatives of the Nigeria Medical Association and National Association of Nigeirian Nurses and Midwives directed members of the body to withdraw their services effective from midnight of 13th April, 2021.

The letter also urged government to ensure adequate safety for health workers in the state and work towards the release of the health workers who are currently in captivity.
