Buni meets CDS, others over terrorism in Yobe
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has met with the Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor over incessant Boko Haram attacks on communities.
The meeting according to Government House sources in Damaturu, was to find a lasting solution to the ongoing attacks, as the insurgents have hoisted their flag at the east part of Geidam.
Director General of Press and Media to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed in a statement Sunday in Damaturu, disclosed: “Buni had since Friday and before meeting Gen. Irabor in Abuja been liaising with security agencies to incessant attacks on Geidam, a border community with Niger.”
He said that there is an urgent need to find a permanent solution to the intrusion of terrorists into the state.
Continuing, he said: “The problem we have is the movement of the insurgents from the fringes of Lake Chad into the state through and across Kumadugu/Yobe River.
“We need to check this holistically to proffer permanent solutions to the menace of people ‘s lives and property.”
He lamented that the people of Geidam had been subjected to several attacks and untold hardships that must be addressed.
“As a leader I’ve to explore all avenues including meeting the Chief of Defense Staff and other Service Chiefs to protect people’s lives and property,” he said.
