Defence Minister to Gov Zulum: “Thanks for Supporting the Military”
The Minister of Defense, Maj-Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd) has said that the military is happy for Governor Babagana Zulum being Governor of Borno state at a time the state is facing security challenges.
Magashi spoke on Monday, when he led a delegation of two Service Chiefs for Army and Air Force, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai and Air Marshaln Abubakar Sadique at Government House, Maiduguri.
His word: “We are very much happy that you (Zulum); who is very
versatile and dedicated in our operational activities of fighting the
Boko Haram, happen to be the Governor of Borno state.
“At this point in time; you have been according so much support to our military on ground in this battle against Boko Haram insurgency.
“We are here today (Monday) in Maiduguri along with the Army and Air Service Chiefs, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai and Air Marshal Abubakar Sadique to thank you.
“We’re going to redesign the battle for effective and efficient
results to end this war for peace in the region.
“I am happy to also inform you that we have improved our synergy with the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Chad.”
Magashi, therefore; assured the governor that the military is
determined to end Boko Haram fight in Northeast.
According to him, everyone wants an end to the decade long war that claimed many lives and property.
“We’re taking the insurgents head on,” he said, assuring that this
will ensure the restoration of peace in the region.
He said their visit to the Theatre Command and insurgency affected communities of Monguno, Abadam, Marte, Baga and shores of Lake Chad, was to assess the progress recorded by troops in the last three months.
He noted that he was in Maiduguri to assess the progress recorded by the military from the last time he was in the state.
Governor Babagana Zulum said that there are still challenges of
fighting Boko Haram, despite President Muhammadu Buhari’s significant changes in state’s security situations in the last six months.
“We have challenges, there is no doubt about this but as Governor of Borno, I can say that President Buhari has shown genuine commitment to helping state get out of the Boko Haram era.
“I know the huge difference the commitments of the President has made in changing our security situation to end insurgency.
“We are grateful to our service chiefs, to the commanders on ground and most importantly to our gallant troops, Civilian JTF and hunters who are in the battle fields.
