
Borno state Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum; has paid the December salaries and pensions of workers to celebrate Christmas and yuletide.
A week, to Christmas, salaries and pensions for December, have begun entering respective bank accounts of serving and retired workers.
Spokesman to the Governor, Isa Gusau Thursday in Maiduguri, disclosed that the payments followed directives of Governor that no Christian should celebrate Wednesday’s Christmas without December salary or pension.”
He said this will enable Christians prepare for Christmas better and on time.
His words: “Yesterday’s payments were in line with the Governor’s
consistency in the prompt payment of workers’ salaries which has neve been in default.
“Governor Zulum has always considered payment of salaries not as achievement but as payment of debts.
“In this case, government paying for services rendered by law abiding civil servants contracted to work,” adding that salaries of workers in Borno have regularly been paid before 26th of every month.
He said that the Governor directed government officials to ensure
workers and pensioners were paid before December, 20, 2019.
According to him; the directive has been complied with and workers have started receiving credit alerts from their respective bank accounts since Tuesday.”
He said the Governor wishes all Christians a wonderful Christmas,while assuring them of continued efforts to safeguard people’s lives and property.
