Borno Gov Flags off Construction of Flyover Bridge

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state; has flagged off construction
of N4.3 billion flyover bridge to ease traffic flows in Maiduguri
metropolis.


The project was awarded to Eighteenth Engineering Company (EEC) on
December 4, 2019 and to be completed in 18 months.


While commencing the construction of bridge Monday in Maiduguri, he
said that N1.3 billion has been paid to the company, as 30%
mobilization fees to Customs Roundabout project site.


According to him, the policy focuses of State Government in 2020; is
to review commitments to rebuild and expand the roads network.


His words: “Today’s flag off is part of strategy for the development
of Township roads network.
“We’ll undertake the construction of Jiddari Polo, Mala
Kyari-Zannari-Gwozari road.”


He said other roads to be constructed in Maiduguri metropolis, include
Jiddari Polo, Umarari Ngarnnam and Abuja Talakwa roads.


While the rebuilding of Pulka-Ngoshe and Monguno, Biu, Askira and
Ngala Township roads be completed this year.


“We ensure work is carried out on 135km Maiduguri-Gambouru,
Maiduguri-Banki and Damboa-Chibok-Mbalala roads,” said Zulum.


He added that the contractor has been mobilized to site with the
release of N1.3 billion for construction.


Speaking on another flyover bridge, he said: “We’ve in the pipeline
another flyover at the Post Office area.


“With completion of these bridges; they will provide a new face lift
of Maiduguri metropolis without any gridlock of traffic.”


He therefore, urged the people to cooperate with company, as heavy
duty machineries at project site could cause inconveniences to
motorists and pedestrian.
