Osun PDP: National Legal Adviser Says Letter to Wale Ojo Subsists, Deny Purported Discountemance Publicatiom

The National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), A.K. Ajibade SAN, has debunked a fake online statement credited to him on Osun PDP where it was stated that a letter signed last week by him should be discountenance and that the said letter has been over taken by event after the meetings held on Monday with the Governors of our party.

The National Legal Adviser of the PDP had earlier warned Wale Ojo to stop parading himself as Osun State Chairman of the party. The strongly worded letter warned Mr Wale Ojo to henceforth desist from parading himself as the Osun state chairman of the party.

Ajibade in a short statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday evening said “the purported publication dated 22nd February, 2022, circulating online, did not emanate from my office”, adding “same not being signed or written with the letter headed paper of the party.

“The content of the letter written by me, which is dated 18th February, 2022, is in reply to a letter dated 16th February, 2022, signed by one Mr. Wale Ojo, notifying the Party about a Judgment of High Court No. 2 Ile Ife. And that the Judgment of the court empowers him (Mr. Wale Ojo) to be the Chairman of Osun State PDP.

“The said letter in reply to Mr. Wale Ojo’s notice of Judgment was served on him today, the 22nd of February, 2022 and the party’s decision in respect to the chairmanship position in the state was addressed accordingly”, he clarified.

The National Legal Adviser also denied another section of the fake publication on future direction on Osun PDP leadership, declaring that “there was no direction from my office to the effect that all leadership situation of the party in the state shall be communicated after the Ad-Hoc delegates congress.

“The letter replying to the notice of Judgment addressed to Mr. Wale Ojo, dated 18th February, 2022, and signed by me, subsists and should not be discountenance as falsely peddled online”, the SAN declared.

He then urged “all party faithfuls in Osun State to pay no attention to the false publication circulating online which is a clear attempt by the enemies of our great party to scuttle the planned three man ad-hoc delegates congress and the relative peace in the Osun State Chapter of our great party”

Stop Parading Yourself as State Chairman-, PDP Warns Wale Ojo

The National Legal Adviser of the PDP had earlier warned Wale Ojo to stop parading himself as Osun State Chairman of the party.

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a strongly worded letter warned Mr Wale Ojo to henceforth desist from parading himself as the Osun state chairman of the party.

In a letter dated February 18th following a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee and copied several security agencies and the electoral commission, the National Legal Adviser, A.K. Ajibade SAN, expressely warned Mr Ojo “that you desist from parading yourself as the Acting State Chairman

“Any further form of portraying in that regard will leave the party with no other option than to recommend that a disciplinary measure be taken against you in line with Section 58 and 59 of the Constitution of the party”, the party warned.

Mr Ojo had written the party and the electoral commission , claiming to be the Acting Chairman of the party. The National Legal Adviser in his letter however referred the party Chief to relevant sections of the party constitution , adding “we state for record purposes that you are not the chairman of the party in Osun state”

The full letter reads as follows:

“We are in receipt of your letter dated 16th February, 2022 wherein you brought to the attention of the party, the decision of Hon. Justice AA. Aderibigbe of the High Court No. 2, Ile-lfe Judicial Division delivered on the 16th February, 2022 where the Court granted an interim Order in favour of Hon. Soji Adagunodo. That the Court having recognized Hon. Soji Adagunodo’s faction of the party in Osun State, you are now the recognized Acting chairman of the party in Osun State. Surprisingly, Hon. Soji Adagunodo is presently the National Vice Chairman SouthWest.

“First, we would like to state for the records that there is no faction of the party in Osun State. The party in Osun State is in fact one and indivisible under the leadership of Hon. Sunday Bisi.

“Contrary to your misconceived view that you have willfully circulated in both the print and on-line medias, we state for record purposes that you are not the chairman of the party in Osun state. The provisions of Section 47 (6) of the Constitution of the PDP 2017 (As Amended) is clear and unambiguous, as it provides as follows:

“Where a vacancy occurs in any of the offices of the party, the Executive Committee at the appropriate level shall appoint another person from the area or zone where the officer originated from to serve out the tenure of the officer”.

“You are to be guided by the above provision and not erroneously rely on Sections 45(2) and (4) of the PDP Constitution 2017 (As Amended). Also, the National Working Committee of the party at its meeting of 16th February, 2022 has approved the appointment of Hon. Sunday Bisi as the Acting Chairman of the party in Osun State as earlier confirmed by the immediate past National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

“We shall advise that you desist from parading yourself as the Acting State Chairman of the Party in Osun State as any further form of portraying in that regard will leave the party with no other option than to recommend that a disciplinary measure be taken against you in line with Section 58 and 59 of the Constitution of the party”, the letter concluded.

Those copied in the letter include Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission; Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Osun State; Commissioner of Police, Osun State; Director General, State Security Service (SSS), Osun State; Commander Civil Defence Corp; and Mr. Sunday Bisi, Acting Chairman, PDP, Osun State
