Olaiya Accident: Osun Govt urge motorists, cyclists to obey traffic laws

Osun State government on Thursday described the accident which occurred at Olaiya as an unfortunate incident and urged motorists, motorcycle riders and pedestrians to always obey the traffic laws for their own safety.

Reacting on behalf of Osun State government, the Executive Secretary Office of Transportation, Engr. Bilal Adiat lamented that the incident which had two casualties who have been rushed to the hospital could have been averted if the traffic light controlling vehicles was obeyed.

According to him, “this is what government has been hammering on every now then. For our good and the safety of other road users, let us please continue to obey the traffic lights at Olaiya junction in Osogbo and other places.

“A little patience is all that is needed, you will always get to your destination if you are patient. We don’t need to behave like people who are not guided by law, traffic laws are there for our own good and safety, let’s obey them please.

“The present administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke will continue to do all that it takes through the Office of Transportation to ensure that there is safety on our roads always. I wish the casualties of the accident a speedy recovery.”

Recall, earlier this morning a truck conveying inmates to the State High Court, hit a commercial minibus, injuring two persons.

The accident occurred as a result of the correctional truck driver’s refusal to obey the traffic light which signaled him to stop and in the process hit a minibus, leaving the driver and one other passenger injured.
