‘We go dey shock dem like high tension!!’, Davido, others react to Adeleke’s S’Court verdict

Following the Supreme Court ruling on Tuesday in Abuja affirming Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the elected Governor of Osun State, Nigerians took to social media to react.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had in 2022 declared Adeleke as winner of the 16 July governorship election having scored a majority of the votes cast in the election. The tribunal in its split judgment of two-to-one delivered in January, held that Oyetola and not Adeleke won a majority of the lawful votes in the election.

The apex court, in its judgment read by Justice Emmanuel Agim, also upheld the Appeal Court’s judgment which upheld the election of Adeleke as the state governor.

The apex court held that the appellant failed to adduce enough evidence to prove his allegation of over voting in the July 16, 2022 governorship poll.

The judgment was affirmed and adopted by the entire five members of the panel.

According to all the members of the panel, the appeal lacked merit.

A big congratulations to Governor Ademola Adeleke as the Supreme Court affirmed his victory as the rightful governor of Osun State. A victory for democracy and the will of the people, as it is usually said.

We must commend the Nigerian judiciary for upholding its standard and refusing any form of intimidation or lobbying. This judgment now leaves us wondering how the lower court came about its judgment of over voting in Osun guber.

Congratulations to the people of my dear state for the revalidation of the mandate given to Ademola Adeleke! Imole Dee looto. The earlier we do away with parties and embrace individual competence in the search for any elective post in Nigeria the better for us.
