Osun will soon hold LG election – PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State, Sunday Bisi has assured that election into the local government councils would be conducted soon.

Bisi made this known while featuring on a radio programme on Monday in Osogbo.

The Osun PDP Chairman maintained that the Adeleke-led administration was prepared to conduct fresh election into the local government councils in the state, adding that its preparations would commence once the 8th Assembly is Inaugurated.

According to him, “The PDP-led administration under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke will conduct local government election in due time.

“Once the 8th Osun State House of Assembly is inaugurated on June 6, the process to conduct the election will start.”

Local government election was last conducted by the Osun Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) on October 15, 2022 by the Adegboyega Oyetola administration.

The Osun PDP and other political parties boycotted the election on the ground that the process was not fair.

However, a Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo on November 25, 2022 nullified the election of all the chairmen and councillors under the APC.

Since the sacking of the local government executives, the third tier of government in Osun is being run without elected officers.

The Rauf Aregbesola administration had in 2017 changed the system of administration in the local councils from presidential to cabinet system.
