The Osun Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA) has reviewed challenges faced by healthcare providers and set new goals aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery in the state.

This came during the Day 2, 2025 First Quarter Providers’ Forum and Basic Emergency Care Training held on Wednesday at the Staff Development Centre, Abeere Osogbo Osun state

Speaking at the training, Executive Secretary of OSHIA, Dr. Rasaq Akindele, emphasized the importance of professional boundaries in healthcare practice, noting that each health practitioner should know the limit of their knowledge.

He also explained that the quarterly forum serves as a critical feedback loop between the agency and frontline healthcare providers.

“Know the limit of your knowledge, If you are not an orthopaedic surgeon, what are you doing fixing an open fracture? If it’s beyond your knowledge, call a specialist. That is good medical practice.

“We want to hear from those offering care to our enrollees and understand the real challenges they face, so we can work together on solutions,” he added

In an interview with some of the participants, Dr. Johnson Odesanya, Medical Director of Living Hope Medical Centre, urged government for increased funding to further support OHIS scheme.

“If the agency gets more funds, it can expand capitation and cover more treatments under OHIS, making healthcare more accessible for residents,” he said.

Also speaking, Dr. Olatunji Odewumi from Osogbo praised the training, stating that it created space for professional reflection.

“This forum allows us to engage directly with OHIS management and identify areas where we can improve service delivery,” he said.
