The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has commiserated with the Muslim Community in Osogboland on the passing of a prominent cleric, Imam Abdulafeez Haroon Samonigongo, the Chief Imam of Islahudeen Central Mosque, Alekuwodo, Osogbo.
Governor Adelekeb in a statement signed by his Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed also condoles the family of the deceased, described Imam Samonigongo as a true servant of Allah who will be forever missed.
The Governor acknowledges the late cleric’s contributions to peace and tranquility of not just Osogboland but Osun state as a whole, through healthy teaching and visible efforts that engenders harmony, saying his loss is devastating and painful.
“It is with a heavy heart that I commiserate the Muslim Community in Osogboland over the death of a highly respected cleric, Imam Abdulafeez Haroon Samonigongo. Imam Samonigongo enriched countless lives through his insightful teachings and advanced the course of Islam with healthy discourse,” the Governor was quoted as saying in a condolences message.
“As a government, we join the people of Osogboland, particularly the Muslim community, in mourning the loss of a distinguished scholar, who guided many to the path of Allah and shaped lives through wise counsels.”
Governor Adeleke prays for the repose of the soul of the deceased and hopes that those left behind, especially family members, students and mentees can find solace and strength in the memories of his remarkable life and the knowledge that his legacy will endure generations.
