Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts, Representative Bamidele Salam, has commended Nigeria’s female national football team for their remarkable performance in the final of the African Women’s Championship, describing the victory as “a shining testament to Nigeria’s resilience and national pride.”
In a message shared via his official Facebook page, Rep. Salam celebrated the team’s historic comeback from a 2-0 first-half deficit to defeat their opponents 3-2 in a gripping final match.
The dramatic turnaround secured Nigeria’s position once again as the reigning champions of African women’s football.
“I join millions of Nigerians in celebrating our heroic female national team on their superlative performance, which has earned us the African Women’s Championship trophy.”
“Coming back from a 2-0 deficit at halftime to win 3-2 is a testament to the resilience, determination, and patriotism of our players and their coaches,” he stated.
He emphasized that the triumph is not only a sporting achievement but also a powerful symbol of unity, strength, and the indomitable spirit of the Nigerian people.
“The kind of fighting spirit displayed by the team embodies the true Nigerian identity never giving up, no matter the odds,” he added.
Rep. Salam also extended his congratulations to the coaching staff, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and all stakeholders who contributed to the team’s success.
He urged continued investment in women’s sports, noting that the victory is a reflection of what can be achieved with adequate support and national backing.
“This win is for all of us, Congratulations, Nigeria,” the lawmaker concluded.
