Odo-otin Traditional Council Moves to Settle Alasi, Egbedun’s Rift

The Odo-Otin Traditional rulers in Osun State have stepped in to settle the rift between the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, and the Alasi of Asi, Oba Oyewale Olasunkanmi Isaac.

While speaking to journalists on Friday, the Olokuku of Okuku, Oba Samuel Abioye Olabode who is also the President of the council noted that a meeting was held in his palace on Thursday where other kings were also present, including the Oloyan of Oyan, Atapara of Iyeku, and Alagbeye of Agbeye.

He also explained that Speaker Egbedun has always helped the people of the area, bringing projects and empowerment programs.

“We had a meeting in my palace here yesterday (Thursday) and after the meeting, some royal fathers who attended mentioned the rift between Alasi of Asi, Oba Oyewale and the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon Adewale Egbedun.

“The royal fathers that were with me here at the time include, Oloyan of Oyan, Atapara of Iyeku and Alagbeye of Agbeye. All the monarchs present disclosed what they heard regarding Alasi. But concerning the Speaker, they could not find any fault with him. We all resolved that by, Friday, we should invite Alasi to explain what transpired between him and Egbedun.

“Egbedun has facilitated projects across the local council and he organised empowerment for the people as well. But I am not privy to what happened between him and the Alasi of Asi. The matter is not a serious issue but we will meet Alasi and discuss with him.”

The monarch, however assured the residents of Odo Otin local government and Osun state that disagreement between the duo will soon be resolved.

Also speaking with newsmen, the Oloyan of Oyan, Oba Kelani Adekeye, while urging for peace described the Speaker and the Alasi as his children.

He explained that he spoke with Alasi, who told him that the issue had gone beyond his control.

“There must be a reason behind everything. This matter must be handled with wisdom

“They’re both in the same compound, they came from same family, but when there is peace, prayer is also important”, he said.
