PDP BoT Sets Up Reconciliation Committee Ahead of Ibadan Convention

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has resolved to strengthen unity within the party ahead of its Elective National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a communique issued and signed by Senator Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, after its emergency meeting on Wednesday, the BoT declared that the PDP remains a united, formidable, and focused party under the leadership of Ambassador Iliya Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC).

The Board also hailed the ruling of the Oyo State High Court, delivered by Justice A. L. Akintola, which affirmed the party’s constitutional right to manage its internal affairs, including the forthcoming convention. The BoT described the ruling as a victory for democracy, rule of law, and political development in Nigeria.

While expressing concern over recent internal tensions, including the invasion of the party’s national secretariat, the BoT noted that such actions were not reflective of PDP’s values.

“The BoT welcomes the ruling of the Oyo State High Court, presided over by Justice A L Akintola which affirmed the Constitutional right and liberty of our Party to manage its internal affairs including holding our 2025 Elective National Convention as scheduled. This landmark Ruling is victory to Democracy, Rule of Law and political development in our country.

“The BoT however expresses worry over the recent developments within our ranks that have caused understandable concerns. The tensions, misunderstandings, and regrettable incidents that have played out in public including the invasion of our National Secretariat are not reflective of the ideals and character of the PDP”, the statement reads.

The BoT however, announced the formation of a high-powered reconciliation committee to immediately reconcile all conflicting sides and restore unity in the party.

Members of the committee include:l; Amb. Hassan Adamu (North East) as Chairman, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe (South South) as Secretary, Chief Ugochukwu Okeke (South East) , Sen. Zaynab Kure (North Central), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola (South West), Dr. Lubna Mohammed Gusau (North West)

The committee is expected to submit its report to the BoT on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
