Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said his administration is fully committed to support technical and vocational education in the state.
Adeleke disclosed over the weekend during the grand finale of the 31st anniversary celebration of Osun State Polytechnic Alumni Association, OSPAA, held in Osogbo.
The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Education, Hon Dipo Eluwole stated that the government will continue to prioritize improved funding, digital transformation, industry-linked training, staff welfare and institutional autonomy to ensure that Osun State Polytechnic Iree competes favorably among the best in the world.
He revealed that his government is also working to strengthen the link between academia and industry in order to ensure that every graduate does not only have a certificate but a viable skill and pathway to sustainable employment and self-reliance.
According to the governor, “As a government, we remain fully committed to supporting technical and vocational education, because no nation can achieve industrialization without skilled manpower.
“We shall continue to prioritize improved funding, digital transformation, industry-linked training, staff welfare, and institutional autonomy just to ensure that Osun State Polytechnic Iree competes favorably among the best in the world.”
Earlier, in his opening remarks, the global President of OSPAA, Alhaji Yakub Adebayo, described the 31st anniversary as a celebration of the association’s journey, resilience and indelible legacy that generation of alumni, staff and stakeholders have built.
“From modest beginnings with a handful of committed graduates, our association has grown into a vibrant, formidable, and national respected body of professionals, innovators, public servants, and change-makers across Nigeria and beyond.
“Indeed, our story is a reflection of what unity of purpose can achieve. Our theme for this year’s celebration, ” Celebrating the 31st Anniversary of Excellence, Friendship and Impact; Sustaining the Legacy” – is both a reminder and a challenge” he added.
“Let us deepen our collaboration, continue to uphold the values that bind us” he urged.
Speaking on the progress the institution has recorded under his stewardship, Rector Kehinde Alabi, said within the two years of his assumption into office OSPOLY added 20 new courses both at national and higher national level.
“The accreditation was successful as a result of the backing of the state government ,we were given accreditation allowance and made judiciously of it” the Rector said.
