Osun State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has threatened to report the shoddy and illicit deals of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) plc to the international community.
Specifically, the association made known its plan to petition the United States of American government and the authorities of the United Kingdom including foreign financial institutions over the illegal actions of the UBA.
This is even as ALGON warned the people of Osun State not to have anything to do with the UBA again having failed the test of integrity by allowing itself to be used for illicit political purposes in contravention of the laws of the land.
ALGON which is the umbrella body of all the local government Chairmen observed that the UBA has subjected itself to politics and can no longer be trusted for efficient banking services, hence the need for all and sundry to withdraw the services of the bank.
The association in a statement signed and released by its chairman, Otunba (Hon) Sarafadeen Abiodun Awotunde condemned the recent actions of the UBA and blacklisted the bank for acting against the rule of law.
Recall that the state House of Assembly led by Rt Hon Adewale Egbedun had alleged that the bank released the funds meant for the local government to the APC Yes/No chairmen and councillors who are illegally occupying the local government secretariats in the state.
The speaker also identified former Governor of the state, Mr Gboyega Oyetola as the brain behind the illegal act, warning the bank to stop engaging with the Yes/No chairmen whose tenure had lapsed since October, 2025.
Awotunde who spoke on behalf of all the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) elected chairmen and councillors across the state threatened to use all known legal means to fight against the injustice being perpetrated by the UBA and its accomplice; the UBA.
He encouraged the people to stop dealing with UBA, just as he called on the Civil Society Organizations to picket all the branches of the UBA in the state for being used by enemies of democracy for unjust and illegal acts.
