The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) acknowledges and commends the patriotic efforts of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the authorities and operatives of Zone XI Command, in their ongoing investigation into the gruesome murder of innocent PDP members in Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State.
The party in a statement signed by its state Chairman Sunday Bisi on Thursday noted with appreciation the steps taken so far by the Zone XI Command in response to the petition submitted on the unfortunate incident and urges the operatives to sustain their professionalism and commitment to justice until all those responsible for this heinous crime are brought to book.
However, the PDP respectfully charges the Zone XI authorities to go a step further by ensuring the arrest and prosecution of Kazeem Oyewale (ASIRI ENIBA), who has been clearly identified and listed as a suspect in the petition submitted to the police and widely fingered as the ring leader of the assailants. The party believes that bringing all suspects, without exception, to justice will further strengthen public confidence in the Police Force and serve as a strong deterrent to political violence.
The PDP commiserates with one of the police officers who was reportedly attacked and injured in the course of effecting the arrest of some of the suspected killers. The party salutes their bravery and sacrifices in the line of duty and wishes them a speedy recovery.
The party reiterates its firm position that no political ambition is worth the blood of innocent citizens. Anyone found to be involved in the killing of fellow citizens must be made to face the full weight of the law, irrespective of political affiliation or status.
The PDP emphasises that a thorough, impartial, and transparent handling of this matter will further help to sustain the relative peace currently being enjoyed in Osun State, especially under the administration of His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, who has consistently promoted peace, rule of law, and tolerance.
The party remains committed to justice for the victims and will continue to engage relevant authorities constructively in the interest of peace and constitutional democracy.
