August 15th: Bow to the Will of Osun People, Adeleke Campaign Organisation Counsels Oyetola/Oyebamiji

The Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organisation has called on former governor Gboyega Oyetola and Bola Oyebamiji to respect the will of the people ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

In a statement issued on Saturday in Osogbo, the campaign organisation alleged that some top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were plotting to instigate post-election unrest if Governor Ademola Adeleke emerges victorious in the poll.

The group claimed that a leaked conversation among APC leaders revealed internal acknowledgment that Adeleke is poised to win the election by a wide margin, reportedly over 200,000 votes. It described the alleged plans to disrupt the process as “delusional” and cautioned against any attempt to undermine the democratic process.

According to the statement, having recognized the governor’s widespread support, Oyetola and Oyebamiji should concede to the electorate’s choice and defer any future political ambitions until 2030.

The statement reads further;

We however strongly scold the APC caucus leaders engaged in the leaked conversations for their deepening delusion of fighting the people even when they lack political insurance that can only be provided by God and man.

Having admitted that Governor Adeleke has the mass support of the people and having expressed frustration at the likelihood of the governor winning the August 15 polls, we task Mr Oyetola and his boy, Mr Oyebamiji to bow to the will of Osun people and wait till 2030 to try their luck again.

Seeking to manipulate electoral officials and plotting to announce fake results are a failed tactic before they start. Level playing field will be enforced and free and fair elections will hold in Osun whether Mr Oyetola likes it or not.

We warn anybody or group of people attempting to create chaos after Governor Adeleke is re-elected, that mass revolt awaits them from the electorate. Osun people will not only vote but will also protect the integrity and sanctity of their votes.

We call on Osun people to rise in defence of democracy and their rights to vote and be voted for. Organise yourself across voting units, wards and local governments and protect good governance and democratic dividends.
