The National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) has declared its support for the re-election of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The endorsement was announced on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the association’s leadership to the office of the Governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
Speaking during the visit, NAOSS President, Ajibola Lateef Folajimmy, commended the Adeleke administration for prioritising students’ welfare, particularly through the provision of buses to ease transportation within and outside the state.
He also lauded the ongoing bursary registration initiative, describing it as a major relief for students. Folajimmy, however, appealed to the state government to support the association in establishing a secretariat and accommodation facility, proposed as the “NAOSS House,” in the state capital.
“We appreciate the governor for approving the bursary registration process. We are also using this opportunity to request a NAOSS House in the state capital, which will serve as both a secretariat and accommodation for students who come into the state for official assignments,” he said.
The NAOSS president further urged the government to expand its scholarship scheme to include opportunities for international study.
He disclosed that the association is set to launch an advocacy programme across the nine federal constituencies in the state, aimed at promoting civic awareness and participation among young people.
“We are planning advocacy projects, including a student electioneering summit, civic education campaigns and enlightenment programmes to educate people on the importance of voting, why they should vote and who to vote for,” he added.
In his response, Rasheed commended the students for their continued support for the Adeleke administration and urged them to sustain the momentum ahead of the forthcoming election.
“I commend you for your unwavering support for this administration. I urge you to continue to canvass and mobilise support for Governor Adeleke’s re-election in the interest of the state’s continued progress,” he said.
He added that the growing support for the governor’s second term bid reflects public approval of the administration’s performance, particularly in human capital development and infrastructure.
“Osun people are the ones clamouring for the governor’s re-election because of the visible impact of his policies and programmes across the state,” Rasheed stated.
