The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State of orchestrating political violence and attempting to mislead the public through what it described as a “failed cover-up” of recent attacks across the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the Chairman of its Media and Publicity Committee, Rep. Bamidele Salam, the council dismissed claims made by the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, Mr. Wole Oke, during a recent press conference, alleging that the opposition party was deliberately distorting facts to divert attention from its record of political violence.
According to TICC, the APC has developed a pattern of sponsoring attacks against political opponents and subsequently portraying itself as a victim through media campaigns.
The council claimed that most victims of recent politically motivated violence in Osun State have been members and supporters of the Accord Party and its allies.
It cited the killing of Mr. Kolade Eluyera, an Accord Party member in Irewole Local Government, and the shooting of the party’s chairman in Osogbo Local Government, Hon. Asimiyu Ajibola, on June 3, 2026. The statement noted that Ajibola remains hospitalised and is battling for his life.
TICC also recalled the deaths of Mr. Ismaila Ibrahim and Hon. Kasali Adebayo during the violent invasion of local government councils in 2025, as well as the killings of Oladimeji Taiwo and Oloyede Damilare in Boripe Local Government, which it attributed to APC-sponsored attacks.
The council further listed several Accord Party members who it said had either been killed or seriously injured in separate incidents across the state. They include Aderemi Abideen Abiodun (Ojubintin) and Aderombi Abass in Ikire; Ganiyu Gele in Ila; Wole, popularly known as “Vulcanizer,” in Ife South; Rafiu Quadri Abiodun in Ilosi, Atakunmosa East; and Elijah Baba Ewe in Ayinrin, Atakunmosa East Local Government.
TICC alleged that the identities of several APC members linked to acts of violence were already known to the public, accusing party leaders of shielding suspects instead of cooperating with law enforcement agencies.
The council also claimed that a recent attack on residents was captured on video, describing the footage as evidence that should prompt accountability from APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
“TICC maintained that no amount of press conferences would absolve those responsible of culpability,” the statement said.
It further accused some security operatives, particularly within the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, of failing to act decisively against individuals allegedly involved in attacks on Accord Party members, raising concerns over impartiality in law enforcement.
TICC consequently called on the Inspector-General of Police, the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the National Human Rights Commission, civil society organisations, election observers and the international community to closely monitor developments in Osun State.
The council warned that selective law enforcement and perceived institutional bias could pose a greater threat to democracy than political propaganda.
While condemning violence regardless of political affiliation, TICC urged security agencies to conduct thorough, professional and impartial investigations into all reported cases of political violence and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
“The people of Osun State deserve peace, fairness and a democratic environment where citizens can freely exercise their political rights without fear of intimidation, violence or persecution,” the statement added.
