Ife North Not Neglected, Adeleke Camp Replies AMBO
By Waliu Adetokun, Osogbo
The camp of Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed claims by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), that Ife North Local Government has been neglected under the current administration.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the spokesperson to the Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Segun Amure, described the allegation as misleading and inconsistent with the development projects executed across the local government since Governor Adeleke assumed office.
According to Amure, several road infrastructure projects have been completed in Ife North, including the 3.5-kilometre Akinlalu Town–Akinlalu Junction Road, the 10.4-kilometre Edunabon–Tonkere Road, and the Magistrate Court Junction–Akinrinade Junction Road with a spur to Itamerin Road in Yakoyo.
“The recent claim that Ife North has been starved of development is not supported by documented projects and visible developments across the local government,” Amure said.
He noted that the Edunabon–Tonkere Road and the Akinlalu Town–Akinlalu Junction Road had suffered years of neglect before being completed by the present administration.
“These roads were deliberately abandoned and endured more than four decades of neglect under previous administrations. Their completion has significantly improved mobility, connectivity and economic activities within the affected communities,” he stated.
The statement further highlighted interventions in the health sector, including the renovation of Primary Health Care Centres in Akinlalu, Okooko in Ipetumodu, and Edunabon, alongside the drilling of boreholes to improve access to potable water in several communities.
Amure also pointed to investments in education, noting that schools such as C&S Grammar School, Origbo Anglican Grammar School, CAC Grammar School, Ipetumodu, LA Secondary School, and schools in Oyere had benefited from renovation projects undertaken by the state government.
In addition, he said constituency projects facilitated by the Deputy Speaker had complemented the government’s efforts at the grassroots level.
“These interventions include the provision of a 500KVA transformer, repair of damaged transformers, construction and rehabilitation of classroom blocks, healthcare support programmes, skill acquisition initiatives, and the installation of motorised boreholes,” he said.
He added that more than 15,000 notebooks had been distributed to pupils and students across the local government, while over 800 candidates benefited from the provision of UTME forms.
Amure maintained that the volume of projects executed in Ife North contradicts claims that the area has been abandoned by the Adeleke administration.
The statement also questioned the feasibility of Oyebamiji’s promise to provide 24-hour electricity if elected governor.
“Given the persistent electricity challenges facing the country despite similar promises made over the years, the electorate is entitled to ask what makes this promise different from previous assurances that were not fulfilled,” he said.
He stressed that political campaigns should focus on facts and realistic policy proposals.
“Political communication should be anchored on facts, performance and practical solutions, not narratives that ignore visible development for electoral advantage,” Amure stated.
The spokesperson expressed appreciation to residents of Ife North for their continued support of the Adeleke administration, assuring them of the government’s commitment to sustaining development across the state.
He said the administration’s Imole Agenda remained focused on continuity, stability and people-oriented development aimed at improving the welfare of residents throughout Osun State.
