The Osun State Cooperative Movement and Semiallahu Ere Ododo Muslim Cooperative and Investment have endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term in office, citing his administration’s achievements and support for cooperative development in the state.

The endorsement was announced during a gathering at the Ede Town Hall, where cooperative leaders, members and stakeholders from across Osun State declared their support for the governor’s re-election.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Ede South Local Government, Hon. Lukman Afolabi, commended Governor Adeleke for establishing the Ministry of Cooperative, describing the decision as a landmark step that has strengthened cooperative societies and enhanced economic opportunities for residents.

“I thank Mr Governor for his good initiative of creating the Ministry of Cooperative. It has helped to provide a better platform for people to support themselves through cooperative societies,” Afolabi said.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant ahead of the forthcoming election by reporting any form of electoral malpractice to the appropriate authorities.

The Governor of Ere Ododo Osun State, Alhaji Abdulsemiu Hussain Gbadegesin, said the group’s endorsement was based on Governor Adeleke’s performance since assuming office.

“We know where we are going on election day, but we have to come out and endorse Governor Adeleke because he has done well. That is why people from different political backgrounds are here to support him,” Gbadegesin said.

He explained that Ere Ododo Muslim Cooperative and Investment, established in Ede on January 30, 2022, has expanded its operations across Osun State, providing empowerment opportunities and interest-free financial support to members.

Representing Governor Adeleke at the event, the Commissioner for Cooperatives and Empowerment, Hon. Bayo Ogungbangbe, appreciated the endorsement and assured members of the government’s continued commitment to the cooperative movement.

Ogungbangbe urged members to return to their various communities and mobilise support for the governor’s re-election.

“A strong mandate from the people will further strengthen our democracy and enable this administration to sustain its development programmes across the state,” he said.

The cooperative movement reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Governor Adeleke’s second-term bid, expressing confidence that continuity in leadership would consolidate ongoing development and expand opportunities for cooperative societies across Osun State.
