Osun Govt Debunks APC Advertorial, Says Road Was Constructed Under Oyetola

The Osun State Government has debunked an advertorial published by the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the front page of the Nigerian Tribune on August 4, 2026, stating that the road featured in the publication was constructed by the administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and not that of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The government also clarified that the road is located at Mukoro, Ile-Ife, and not in Modakeke as indicated in the advertorial.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, who described the publication as misleading.
According to Alimi, the state government has made available the GPS coordinates of the road to enable members of the public to independently verify its location.
“We have attached the GPS coordinates of the said road for fact-checking and verification through Google Search,” the commissioner said.
He explained that although the Adeleke administration is executing several road projects in Ile-Ife and Modakeke, the road featured in the APC advertorial is not among them.
“The Adeleke administration has a number of projects in Ife and Modakeke. This is not one of them. The one we have in the area has not even been marked. This is misinformation by whoever placed the advert. The publication is therefore simply fake news,” he said.
Alimi further stated that the current administration has continued to undertake remediation and corrective works on several infrastructure projects inherited from the previous administration.
“The Adeleke administration has been doing a lot of remediation and corrective work on several projects inherited from the Oyetola administration. The attempt by the Osun APC to push its defects on the Adeleke government is therefore deceitful,” he added.
The commissioner urged members of the public to verify the facts before accepting the claims contained in the advertorial.
“We urge members of the public to fact-check and verify that the said road was constructed by the Oyetola administration,” Alimi said.
