Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has commissioned the Al-Ansar Security Services (ASS) to overcome various security challenges in the state.
The security outfit with headquarters in Maiduguri metropolis, is to collaborate with police and other security agencies to protect people’s lives and property.
While reiterating the importance of security, yesterday (Wednesday) in Maiduguri, the Governor saidli “I commended the Founder and President of the Foundation, Dr. Mohammed Kyari for investing in the security outfit, in spite of lingering security challenges in the Northeast region.”
The a dozen-year Boko Haram insurgency has killed over 40,000 people with destruction of property worth $9.2 billion (n3.42 trillion) in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.
Managing Director of Kougar Technology Solution (KTS), will also be the technical partner of the inaugurated security outfit in the metropolis.
He said the collaboration among private security outfits, police and other security agencies could ensure the protection of people’s lives and property.
“Private security guards are a critical part to the security network system of any developing nation,” he said, assuring that there will be a drop in criminal activities in the state.
He further disclosed that Al-Ansar Foundation is among the fastest growing private sector in the country.
Zulum attributed the growth to its laudable policies and programmes that has direct bearing on the most vulnerable in the society.
Responding, Dr. Dikwa said that the new security outfit was to complement government efforts to improve the living conditions of people, particularly the vulnerable ones in society.
He noted that raising people’s living standards could only be achieved through creation of job opportunities for the teeming youths and women.
According to him, these could assist overcome the challenges of insecurity for economic development and growth.
“We hold a strong belief that our youths can now contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of our dear state and beyond,” he said, adding that by rendering their services to humanity with the security outfit.
