The BUA Cement Company has constructed and handed over 10,000 gallons of water projects to Gidan Gamba, a host community in Wamakko local government area of Sokoto State.
The project, which consists of a borehole and overhead tank, is said to be part of BUA’s corporate social responsibility toward strengthening the already existing relationship between the company and the host community.
Speaking at the Commissioning and handover ceremony, the Managing Director BUA Group, Engineer Yusuf Binji, said the company had been supporting its host communities with viable projects that include water, schools, clinics, electrification, housing and scholarship, among others.
According to him, the community had been in close contact with BUA Group since the company took ownership of the Cement Company of Northern Nigeria.Engineer Binji thanked the Chairman, BUA Group, Abdussamad Isiyaka Rabi’u, for his company’s loyalty, cooperation and understanding.
He called on the beneficiaries of the project to take full ownership and maintenance of the facilities for sustainable enjoyment.The Managing Director applauded the support of State Ministry for Land and Housing and the leadership of Wamakko local government for their support and cooperation.
Receiving the Project, the Chairman Wamakko local government area, Mr Bello Haliru, expressed appreciation to BUA Group for its sustained support over the years.
“The BUA Group has been supporting its host communities for years with schools, cement, water projects, medicare, access roads, scholarship, and employment, among others.“I, however, appeal for more similar gestures from the company to continue to strengthen the existing cordial relationship with the BUA groups and the host communities,” he said.
The Chairman called on the host communities to continue to remain peaceful and cooperate with the BUA Group.
