The Executive Governor of Osun state, Senator Ademola Adeleke, swore in newly appointed 25 Commissioners and three permanent secretaries in the state.
The swearing-in program took place at the state secretariat in Osogbo,the state capital around 10am.
During his address, Adeleke stated that, today marks a major milestone in the life of this administration.
“I am today unveiling a new team to drive our mission and vision for a new Osun state.
“I am elated at this gathering. I am sure we are all excited as we line up our crack team to score goals of good governance.
According to him, In the last eight or so months, he has been running a Governor-in-Council government. With hard work and determination, that council achieved a lot.
“We succeeded in rescuing sun from the downward movement. We set the state on a path of sustainable development.
“Today, a new State Executive Council is hereby unveiled.
He, however, congratulated all newly appointed commissioners and permanent secretaries.
” You are welcome to join a team of high performing officials, a small band of patriots who have laid a solid foundation for state governance.
Adeleke als commended the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State for its frontline role in the making of this cabinet.
He said the party sets the template for the selection process and he accepted the party’s decisions.
“Our team of commissioners are therefore a product of stakeholders’ choices.
“It is important to affirm that my preoccupation throughout the process was a merit based pathway.
“This passion of mine for putting together qualified hands was reflected in the template the party applied throughout.
Speaking further, the governor also used the medium to share his vision for Osun state.
“I seek a very responsive government that listens and satisfies the wishes of the people. So your goal must be real service to the people.
“I value honesty and integrity in public service. You must be above board. Corrupt conduct will be heavily sanctioned.
“I love thinking out of the box in governance. As political heads of your ministries, be very innovative. Generate and implement new ideas.
“In times of national economic emergency, I love achieving much with little resources. Be prudent and adopt measures that reduce cost of projects and services.
As we all know, I am a team player. There won’t be any room for solo actors in our cabinet. You must work as a team with a common goal to make a difference in the lives of our people.
“Above all, my leadership is about due process and rule of law. You must not cut corners. I will not compromise transparency and accountability.
“As you are coming on board, the task before us is enormous. We have a duty to turn our adversity into assets. We must re-engineer our economy, generate wealth, engage our youth, deepen our economic base, embrace the digital economy and implement our climate action agenda.
We are the innovators to overcome our state’s deficit across sectors.
I know you are full of new options for the greater Osun agenda.
I believe your heads and hands are full of solutions to governance problems of our time.
Bring them on.
“You will find in me a receptive and supportive head of administration.
To harness our potentials and capacities, an executive retreat is in the making for all top appointees and officials. At that event, an expanded five point agenda of the administration will be a focus. We will leave the retreat better equipped to deliver on our mission and vision as a government.
“Also in due course, you will be adequately briefed on public service rules as well as your working relationship with bureaucrats who are accounting officers of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies. I will insist on harmonious partnership with the civil service by political appointees. We are partners in progress.
You will also be availed of details of your duties and responsibilities within the governmental structures.
“The people of sun have high expectations from this administration. We have not and will not disappoint them. My team will redouble its efforts to deliver on our election promises. We will sustain our high performing rating.
If we can deliver so much with a Governor -in-Council, our team will be superlative as a State Executive Council.
“It is therefore my singular honour and privilege to inaugurate this new set of highly qualified commissioners and permanent secretaries.
