The Osun state government has reiterated its commitment to the delivery of quality healthcare service to the good people of the state and its readiness for partnership with critical stakeholders in the Health sector in delivering on its mandate in the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
This was contained in an address by the Special Adviser on Public Health to the Executive Governor of Osun State, Dr Adekunle Akindele at the flag-off ceremony of Hydrocele surgery in the state in partnership with AMEN Healthcare and Empowerment Foundation
Dr Akindele reiterated that qualitative healthcare delivery system is an integral part of the five points agenda of the present Administration in the State, which is been led by His Excellency, Sen. Ademola Adeleke.
He further highlighted part of the achievements of the administration in the health sector to include, Imole free Medical and Surgical outreach, where more than 18000 beneficiaries were able to benefit from free medical and surgical care, including Eye Surgeries. More than 3000 vulnerables were enrolled into the state health insurance scheme to enjoy free health services and also free drugs worth millions of Naira were purchased and distributed to primary health care centres across the 30 local government, LCDA’s, and area councils in the state among others, he stated.
” We’re here today in fulfilment of our campaign promises to the good people of Osun State. Quality Healthcare delivery is an integral part of the five points agenda of our dear governor, and this is what we’re fully committed to in the Ministry of Health,” Dr Akindele stated.
” Aside from the effort of the government in the health sector, we’re also open to partnership with critical and relevant stakeholders in the Health sector to support us in our mandate of providing quality healthcare service to improve the standard of living of the people in the state.
” Just recently, the state government, in collaboration with critical partners concluded the distribution of insecticide treated Nets to our people in the State in a bid to roll out malaria and other related diseases from the state.
For emphasis, more than 3600000 ITNs were distributed and this inform the reason why we are also collaborating together today with the ‘AMEN FOUNDATION’ to carry out Hydrocele Surgeries for affected citizens in the state”, the Special Adviser on Public Health to the Governor reiterate.
Dr Akindele further assured of the readiness of the present administration in the state to accommodate and support all the implementing partners in improving the health care service delivery system in the state. He thereafter flag-off this year free Hydrocele Surgeries, under the Negleglected Tropical Disease program of the State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Resident partner, Amen Health Care and Empowerment Foundation.
The founder and President of Amen Foundation, Chief Rita Aizehi Aimiuwu, appreciates the state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for providing an enabling environment to collaborate together with the state government for provision of free medical service for the people of the state.
She said part of the medical operational activities that will be carried out during the exercise is the prevention of Onchocerciasis(River Blindness), Lymphatic Filariasis (Elephantiasis and Hydrocele), Soil Transmitted Helminths (Intestinal Worms), Schistosomiasis (Bilhazair).
She assured of the readiness of her team to provide treatments for this aforementioned diseases and also reduce it to the barest minimum in the state as her foundation has local coordinators in the 30 area councils of the state to ensure quick intervention where necessary while also stating that the current exercise, will be a continuous one.
Part of the dignitaries at the flag-off ceremony is the PS Ministry of Health, Dr Isiaka Adekunle, The Executive Secretary OSPHCDB, Dr Fabiyi, other sectoral heads in the Ministry of Health and traditional rulers from different part of the state.
