The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has warned the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigerian, IPMAN, Osun State Chapter to desist from hoarding premium motor spirit, commonly known as petrol.
The Governor, who gave the warning in his office, State Secretariat complex, Abere during a courtesy call paid on him by the IPMAN, alerted that his administration will never allow the Association to subject residents in the State to unwarranted hardship while trying to get the commodity.
He specifically commended Bovas petrol station for being the only station that sells fuel at the regulated price without hoading the product.
I will meet with Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde in order to facilitate the process of resucitating the moribund Ibadan depot.
“IPMAN is very important to the Country’s economy, advancing that whatever happens to petrol will have telling effects on the economy.
“I will look into your long list of requests with a view to assisting you accordingly”, he stated.
The Governor, however, assured them that he will continue to carry them along in policy formulation
In his remarks, IPMAN Chairman, Dr. Bukola Mutiu thanked the Governor for accommodating them, and appealed to the State Government to assist in resucitating the Ibadan Depot, which serves both Osun and Oyo State, explaining that if it can be fixed, it will reduce the stress of going to Lagos and other States for petroleum products.
He enjoining the governor to assist in providing grants to aid them in deregulating the price of the products and also solicit for assistance in areas of steady power generation and provision of more buses for them to facilitate movement and monitoring of members.
Dr. Mutiu however urged government to give them harmonized bill, promising that they are ready to support the present administration in regular payment of taxes and levies.
