The Osun State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Otunba Tola Faseru has assured the people of the State of an all inclusive agricultural policy to move the sector forward.
The Commissioner gave the assurance on Thursday in Osogbo, the State Capital, during a one-day validation meeting to finalize the draft Agricultural Policy in the State.
The political head of the Ministry added that, moving agricultural forward is one of the major goals of Governor Adeleke’s led administration, explaining that the visionary leadership and unwavering support of Osun State Government has set the stage for the development of an impactful Agricultural policy.
He also acknowledged the developmental partners, such as, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Life and Peace Development Organization (LAPO) and Palladium, DAWN Commission and Agro-women Groups, for their invaluable supports which, according to him, “had been instrumental in shaping the colours of the policy.”
While fielding questions from the newsmen, a Special Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Olaniran Atidade explained that the policy is to give direction and strategies that can be used to restructure and move Agriculture forward in the state.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Miss Adegbemisola Fayoyin, explained that the policy document,which the Ministry is trying to bring up, would be all inclusive as it would take cognisance of what operates globally, like climate change, the women, youth and the physically challenged, stressing that the policy document of Osun was reviewed 13 years ago.
Present at the meeting were Permanent Secretaries from different Ministries, Management of Osun State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security as well as representatives from Institute of Agric Research and Training, to mention but a few.
